As the crypto industry continues to mature, new regulatory requirements will emerge and it will become increasingly important for companies to prioritize security and regulatory compliance.
Recent SEC rulings, such as the increased safeguarding requirements for qualified custodians, are aimed at enhancing the protections of customer assets. We are proud to remain one of the select few qualified custodians in the United States under this ruling, and believe new regulations are well-intentioned and will promote much needed transparency and accountability within the industry.
To provide additional transparency for our customers, we are excited to announce that Aegis Trust and Aegis Custody have been awarded SOC 2 Type 1 certification, validating the strength of Aegis’ control mechanisms, framework and design.
SOC 2 is a security framework defined by the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA). The SOC 2 Type 1 attestation in particular reviews the design of an organization’s internal controls, and determines whether they meet the framework’s requirements. After completing rigorous testing conducted by a trusted third-party, Presciet Assurance, the SOC 2 Type 1 certification awarded to Aegis proves that we have met top-level security requirements for managing client lifecycles and funds.
As a company, we felt it was important to devote our resources to this effort so that we could reassure our customers that our policies, procedures and technologies adhere to proven, institutional-grade security practices. Receiving this certification is significant for players in the crypto ecosystem, and we couldn’t be more proud to achieve this gold standard.
To further prove our commitment to protecting client assets, we are also pursuing the SOC 2 Type 2 audit, and will conduct SOC 2 testing annually as a routine part of our operations. Taking these measures every year will help provide peace of mind that our technology and procedures meet the most up-to-date security requirements, and Aegis remains at the forefront of security and regulatory compliance in the crypto industry.
Our company has a long-standing commitment to maintaining the highest level of security in all of our operations. Achieving SOC 2 Type 1 certification and remaining a qualified custodian under the SEC’s safeguarding requirements demonstrates our commitment to providing institutional-grade security for our clients and partners. As our industry continues to evolve, Aegis will continue to prioritize security and regulatory compliance to provide increased trust and transparency for our clients.
